General Settings
The General settings area of the Email Settings screen includes the following settings:
• Account name - a name you have given the account to keep it distinct from other accounts
• Your name - your name as you would like it to appear automatically in the From field of the email messages
you send from this account
• Signature - a line of text that appears at the bottom of the email messages you send from this account on your
NOOK; by default, the signature reads, “Sent from my NOOK.”
• Email check frequency - how often your NOOK should check for new email once you have launched the
NOOK Email app; your choices are:
• Never
• Every 5 minutes
• Every 10 minutes
• Every 15 minutes
• Every 30 minutes (the default)
• Every hour
• Default account - an indication of whether or not you want this account to be the default account for send-
ing and receiving email on your NOOK; if you only have set up one account, you can cannot change this setting,
because the account will always be the default account.
To change of these settings except the Default account setting, tap on the name of the setting and make the changes
you want in the dialog box that opens.
To change the Default account setting, tap on its checkbox.
Notification settings
The Notification settings are of the Email Settings screen includes a single checkbox indicating whether or not you
want the Status Bar to display a notification when new email arrives.
Server settings
The Server settings area opens dialog boxes for configuring the Incoming settings and Outgoing settings for this email
account.
We recommend that you edit this settings only if you have been instructed to do so by your email administrator, or if
your ISP or email service provider has given you explicit instructions for configuring settings such as port numbers and
transport protocols.
